Honestly, that’s worst than no dialogue trees at all.

(BTW, I’ll abandon numbering the flaws eventually because there’s so many of them I’m losing track of myself.)Ģ: Terrible forced dialogue trees where you have to pick a lame option you hate for Dampe. The dungeons are great, but it’s hard to see the game as better just because of good level design when the game controls badly. The original game didn’t have this issue, just let me use the fucking Control Pad! That’s what it was invented for, to move! I need precision with this kind of game. I tried using the Control Pad, and it just moved the camera, as if that’s vital in a top-down game like this. When I first played this game, it took me several seconds just to figure out how to move. It is the WORST excuse for an analog stick I’ve ever seen. He’s ALWAYS gradually moving up or down and not just going in a straight line, and worst of all, my thumb wants to slip off the Circle Pad. I can’t have fun with the game right from the start because I don’t feel like I’m in control of my character. While the dungeons are better than in AlttP, a lot better actually, this game is still inferior to the original in almost EVERY conceivable way to the point of being alienating if you played AlttP as much as I did. And since it can be compared to AlttP which doesn’t have all those complaints, it just comes off as a game making me wish I was playing the game it was constantly referencing, like how Wave Ocean rips off Emerald Coast in 06. Like Pokemon Sun and Moon, this game has a lot of minor complaints, but there’s so many minor complaints that eventually it adds up to one major complaint. The word I’d use to describe this game is ALIENATING. But I stop enjoying myself when I have to make my way to another dungeon. I have enough fun with the challenging and creative dungeons that I don’t mind too much how many unnecessary flaws this game added compared to A Link to the Past. It is a clueless homage to AlttP that fails to understand what made it great adding a whole slew of problems of its own, mainly from “ modernizing “ what was originally fun in its simplicity.Ī big problem with this game is the movement controls, which is of course slippery in the dungeons as well, but at least in the dungeons, which make AlttP’s dungeons look painfully basic and bland in comparison, I’m having fun. “ The dungeons are GREAT! Why can’t we just have more of THOSE?! “ This quote by Ryan Malis is a great way to show how I feel about this game.
